There's Something About Me: Patricia Toh Presented by Ming Poon

For the 2nd year of The Substation's Associate Artist Research Programme (AARP), our current batch of Associate Artists will be inviting emergent artists to present their work in a monthly series of lecture- presentations. An expansion to the AARP, There's Something About Me is a new platform for our Associate Artists to introduce artists whom they personally believe in, and initiate dialogue and sharing within the artists and public community about their works.

Ming Poon says…

I have only known Pat Toh as a performer. Recently she has stepped into a different shoe, going from performing to making her own works. This year has seen two new works from her: Raw: Homogenous presented at the Esplanade and Pretty Things at The Substation. It is in this new capacity as an emerging creator that I would like to present her, to find out why she decides to create works, what her vision of theater is, what she hopes to find in it and what she has to offer us.

Pat received the Shell-NAC Arts Scholarship and completed a Bachelor of Dramatic Arts (Acting) at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts, Australia. She created Homogenous recently, an ongoing research project that delves into the act of walking. She is also the recipient of The Substation’s Open Call programme for Performance, where she created and directed Pretty Things.
