Sensing Sounds is a musical experience that blurs the sensations of harmony and timbre, urging one to come face to face with the heart of sound. Under the direction of Joyce Koh, Singaporean composer and conductor, the Conservatory New Music Ensemble unleashes this unique encounter in five distinctive works.
Whilst San by Uzong Choe is a playful escapade from Korean traditional musical genre of San-jo which means ‘scattered music’, Introspect by Conservatory student David Taylor is an internalization of the wandering mind. Chiffre VI by Wolfgang Rihm and Les Pierres Magenta by Joyce Beetuan Koh are two witty exuberant expressions, which culminate in a sensuous sonic-spectacle of Désintégrations by Tristan Murail.
