Angie has been making drawings of “mouth” icons since 1999 but has only begun to question their meaning and significance recently.

In this exhibition, she will revisit this creative process in order to understand how she has derived this constant element in her works. This process will extend to other mediums of artmaking, particularly drawing and voice performance. As part of the exhibition, Angie will work with classical music composer and pianist, Shiu Kawai, sound artist, Muhammad Riduan and jazz musician Aya Sekine in three performances that will express different perspectives and metaphorical approaches towards her artworks.

Born in 1979, Angie is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Singapore. Since 1997 she has been making drawings, performance art, installations and clay sculptures.

She has been exploring the medium of sound art in the area of vocal performance with actions. Since 2002, she continues to create vocal pieces rooted in raw emotion and the imagination in the context of her autobiographical situations. Art making is a tool for Angie to understand the social environment and responding to deal with the everyday life of human conditions.
