Italian classical guitarist Marco Mina will present a concert of solo guitar works entitled 'Guitar solos from XX century to contemporary' featuring works by M. Castelnuovo-Tedesco, G. Petrassi, C. Ambrosini, B. Bettinelli, and V. Zago.

Marco Mina, born in Latina, Italy, started to study guitar from an early age. He completed his musical studies in Milan at the “G. Verdi” Conservatory of Music in Milan where he graduated with the best marks under the direction of Professor Ruggero Chiesa.

Marco has obtained several prizes at national and international level, in both a solo and chamber music capacity: International Competition City of Stresa, Grosseto, Camaiore, Cento, Premio Rovere d’Oro, and the Prix F. Liszt in Paris.

Marco Mina has given recitals for some of the most important venues in Europe, USA, Africa: Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, Campus Internazionale di Musica-Festival Pontino in Sermoneta Caetani Castle, Associazione Amici di Castel S. Angelo in Rome, ARTIS in Verona, Grandezze & Meraviglie in Modena, Ecole Normale, King's College London, St. Martin in the Fields, Royal Academy, BBC Proms, and Birmingham to name a few.

He regularly holds Masterclasses at some of the most prestigious musical institutions in Europe and is currently recording and publishing for the label Musica NovAntiqua.

The Lunchtime Concert Series is organised by the School of Contemporary Music (SoCM), Faculty of Performing Arts.
