Once upon a time, there was a bunch of people who arrived at Kent Ridge Hall, NUS, and found one another through a series of silly orientation games and scary auditions. They went on to develop an eternal bond through their love for ice cream birthday surprises, late night suppers, meeting assignment deadlines at the last minute and annoying their hostel neighbours with loud, raucous singing. Their common preference for music sans instruments further cemented this relationship. Through the years they were frequently spotted hefting trophies at competitions like Stardust, Talentquest, and the National A Cappella Championships. They were even caught red-handed in the act of guerrilla carolling at pre-determined town locations, before scurrying off to pre-assigned Christmas foodie places.

The time came to graduate, and these people were at a loss. How would they continue cultivating their passion for ice cream and supper? The solution was simple: form a singing group! And so, 23:59 was born. The singing was, of course, an excuse to sustain the legacy of general piggery and last minute tendencies. Nevertheless, it was a good arrangement and it stuck.

Okay, we kid. We’re not that greedy. Just a little bit. We really do like to sing and we hope you like our singing too!

23:59 most recently performed at ExxonMobil Campus Concerts: Naked Voices a cappella showcase at the University Cultural Centre.
