Fungkimunkees consists of five professional musicians from diverse music backgrounds. In July 2010, after spending some time working on some ideas, the excited musicians test-drove their grooves at Sunday night jam in one of Singapore's premier music venues. That night, Fungkimunkees was born.

In less than two years, the band has performed over 30 shows. In May 2012, we look forward to the band's first international show at Cambodia's most exciting music festival, Penhstock.

Our signature sound, known as the "Munkees' groove," features songs with refreshing and dynamic musical textures and original songs of funk, blues, latin, and jazz. We also play a range of covers and change them from time to time because, well, set lists can't stay set.

We've had the great honour of featuring guest musicians such as saxophonists Benson Kong, Teo Boon Chye, and Edmund Woo; pianist Aya Sekine; bassist Wendy Phua; vocalists Fendi and Sherman Aw, and guitarist Curtis King.

For those who've heard us and know us, they know this is a band that is all heart and pure groove.

Our journey so far has been fantastic - wiithout the support and help of fellow musicians in the industry, we wouldn't have come this far.

So to all who came to our shows and all musicians who kept encouraging us: Thank you!

Check here regularly for our latest gigs or email us at fungkimunkees@gmail.com if you'd like us to be a part of your music movement.
