Jaipongan, also known as jaipong, is a music and dance style of the Sundanese people of West Java, Indonesia.

The male jaipongan dance style is centered around simplicity and graceful movements, whereas the female dancer in jaipongan is very active, with rapid feet and hip movements . It is choreographed with a sophisticated polish, different from many of the other dances associated with the Sundanese.

In this presentation, Gigi Dance Company will be performing Bajodir. It is a particular style of Jaipong that fuses Ketuk Tilu (partnering dance) with the more rigorous aspects of Jaipong and uses the fan to add dynamics to the movements. It is a social dance from West Java that depicts the happy life of the mojang (teenagers) in the region.

GIGI Dance Company is based in Jakarta, Indonesia under the artistic direction of Gianti Giadi. Having their unique concept and style, they produce their own shows presenting a wide variety of dance genres such as traditional dance, contemporary, jazz & hiphop.
