As the American presidential elections loom in November, we look at the literary and cinematic portrayals of the POTUS (President of the US). It is a role that has gone beyond being the embodiment of political power, but also about creating a public persona that caters to an increasingly media-saturated world. These films explore the blurring of the line between the real and public selves of the US President.

Director: Oliver Stone
Cast: Kevin Costner, Kevin Bacon, Tommy Lee Jones

New Orleans District Attorney Jim Garrison is highly suspicious of the official story presented by the FBI of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination in 1963. He takes it upon himself to investigate further and unearths a conspiracy that may go deeper than he could have ever imagined.

Based on the books On the Trail of the Assassins by Jim Garrison and Crossfire: The Plot That Killed Kennedy by Jim Marrs.

There will be a talk before the screening by Ian Gordon.
