Kurjanto Slamet, an architect from ONG&ONG, and Tan Kok Hiang founding director of Forum Architects will be giving a talk on Islamic architecture in Singapore. Slamet will address the topic of "Mosque Design Through Modernation - Symbol of Openness and Inclusivity". Mosques in Singapore, serving both physical and spiritual needs of the Muslim community, need respond to diverse activities such as social development, family and youth development, religious services and referrals. Tan who designed the Assyafaah Mosque and the retrofit of Almumkinin Mosque and who has been on juries of mosque design competitions, will talk about his ideas on what constitutes a modern mosque in Singapore.
