However, the success of science depends not only on the quality of the research but also on the uptake of related innovations by governments, businesses, and the general public, who must be able to separate the good science from the bad to make informed decisions based on solid evidence.
In a “post-truth” world of information overload, echo chambers, and mistrust of experts, this job has never been more difficult. Only a scientifically literate nation can navigate these waters to a safer and more prosperous future, but how do we get there?
