Workshop 1: Foundations Of Pranayama
During this session, an overall view on Pranayama and the emphasis on the importance of Breathing exercises and techniques will be introduced.
Role of Pranayama in Hatha Yoga. Even though Pranayama is an essential limb of Hatha Yoga, it has not been given enough importance by practitioners. In fact, the term Hatha Yoga is nearer to Pranayama as the practice of hatha (threpresenting the pranic/vital force and ha representing the mental energy) seeks to unite the pranic and mental forces. Pranayama is considered to be best means for controlling the mind. We shall try to understand its importance from physiological point of view as well.
In these sessions, we will investigate the various types of breathing and breathing techniques appropriate to Pranayama.
Workshop 2 : Introduction To Yoga Philosophy
In modern times we have given importance to the learning of Modern anatomy of yogic practices. This has happened because we have given more importance to the physical aspect and effects of yogic practices and it is modern anatomy that helps in understanding them. But Yoga being an esoteric practice has its essential relationship with some such concepts of human body which can be termed specifically Yogic. These workshops will explain yoga concepts as propounded in the texts.
