Memories and Dreams is a collective play written and composed by these young people ages 6 to 20, from all the cultural and socio-economic backgrounds that make up our unique Nation. Many have never been on stage or in a band or design team before. These young people want the opportunity to be part of a creative journey that sheds light on their perspective of the world without having to pass an audition or an exam or to be graded on their input.

27th Feb: 7.30 PM
28th Feb: 2.00 PM / 5.00 PM
Duration approx. 80-Minutes

Synopsis -
An original play which explores contemporary issues revolving around family and the sense of belonging in this ever-changing world we live in. The play tackles a number of questions about our world, our country, our culture and how would we like them to be in 50 years’ time.

The play is a unique window into the thoughts and aspirations of over 60 young people ages 6 to 20 years, from diverse cultures and backgrounds in Singapore, and was created and shaped through their collective inputs and efforts. The script is a refreshing blend of satire, drama, and humour, as it reaches back to a seemingly simpler time into a more complex present day and the hopes for a promising future.

Each presentation is followed by a candid talk back session with the audience.

This is key for both the cast and crew as well as the audience member so they can dialogue and question from both sides of the 4th wall. It gives the participants an opportunity to speak candidly about their experience in creating the production and respond to audience feedback which in itself encourages growth and humility.

The beginnings of Creations ETC.
Creations was founded in 1979 in Montreal (Canada) in celebration of the International Year of the Child. Marc Nicholson was one of the first young Montreal participants and he was on the Board of Directors for 5 years. He much later moved to Singapore where he married and now has 2 children. Upon hearing of the tragic loss of Yen-Lu Chow’s son, Marc believed that Singaporean youth would benefit from the Creations’ prototype: Inclusive nature, Emphasis on mental wellness, Employing a creative process to problem-solve. Marc and Yen-Lu decided to open the company in Singapore and asked the Montreal Founder of Creations, Clare Schapiro, to help set it in motion. SG Creations opened its doors at *SCAPE in April 2014 and has since worked with over 350 young people and produced 5 key projects.
