The fantastical world of dreams comes to life in the dystopian love story “The Wheelhouse” and the eccentric universe of the dandypunk. Using acrobatics, an exquisite circular set, light and sound, and a large dose of imagination, Acrojou and A Dandypunk transcend reality and push the boundaries of their artistic mediums. Discover the inspiration behind their fantasy, and their secret to capturing the hearts and minds of their audiences in this Perspectives talk.

About the artists

Acrojou: Acrojou is an independent, artist-led company that draws inspiration from the circus, visual art, theatre, dance and engineering. A leading street theatre and circus company, it creates art that pivots on the themes of bodies, structures and materials. Acrojou’s work is a bold and honest narrative about the human condition, regardless of culture or background.

A Dandypunk: A dandypunk is a character from a fictional universe. Growing up b-boying, free-running and doing graffiti on the rooftops of Victorian London, he teaches himself the art of light alchemy from a book found on a Royal Park bench. Aerial artist and acrobatic dancer Stephan Choiniere embodies a dandypunk, bringing his fluid phrasing and emotive storytelling abilities to character and stage.
