What happens when you put the latest virtual reality goggles, a game developer, an urban designer and a transport planner in a parking lot in Tiong Bahru? They redesign the streets, put you on a 'bicycle', and takes you on a 'ride' - virtually - all within the space of a parking lot!
On Park(ing) Day, join the Future Cities Laboratory (FCL) at our parking lot and ‘cycle’ through three redesigned streets in the Tiong Bahru neighbourhood through the latest virtual reality goggles HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.
‘Bike to the Future: Imagining an alternative future for streets of Singapore’ provides a digital peephole into the future and shows the potential of VR applications in helping stakeholders provide feedback to planners.
It combines the latest 3D-modelling and traffic simulation techniques in virtual reality to showcase how streets can be redesigned to make cycling and walking a more pleasant experience.
You're wanted! Participate in our citizen engagement exercise in street design and urban development. After your 'ride', tell us if the streets meet your needs as a ‘cyclist’? What do you like about the new design? Which design elements could be improved?
See you at lot #92 at Tiong Bahru!
