This is a pair of interactive classical chamber music concerts specially designed for children ages 12 & under, to be held at the Esplanade this March 12.

Featuring internationally renowned chamber musicians, award-winning homegrown violinist Tee Khoon Tang and Esplanade’s own Playtime! actress Cheryl Kjm, the children will go on an interactive journey through the string quartet music of classical greats, Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven. They will discover all there is to know about the string quartet through interesting anecdotes and ‘live’ musical excerpts from some of the most popular classical works for string quartet.

In the first session for ages 0-6, the children will be introduced to the 4 beautiful string instruments in a string quartet and their individual roles in this combination.

In the second session for ages 6-12, the children will learn about the development of the string quartet genre through the hands of Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven.

Joining homegrown solo violinist Tee Khoon Tang onstage will be principal cellist of Philharmonic Orchestra Hamburg, Olivia Jeremias; leader of Kammerakademie Potsdam Berlin, Yuki Kasai; violist of the award-winning Daedalus Quartet, Jessica Thompson; and Esplanade’s own Playtime! actress, Chery Kjm.
